Mr. Osama Bishai
Chief Operating Officer
Orascom Construction Group – OCI
 

Eng. Osama joined Orascom in 1985 and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of the Construction Group. 

He has been a Director on the Board of Directors of Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) since its incorporation in 1998. OCI is a leading international construction contractor and fertilizer producer based in Cairo and one of Egypt's largest corporations with projects and investments across North Africa, the Middle East and Europe. 

Eng. Bishai has a BSC in Structural Engineering from the University of Cairo and a Diploma in Construction Management from the American University in Cairo. 
Eng. Bishai was part of the team which established the construction business within  its US affiliate Contrack International. He also led the commercial activity to secure over $600 million worth of contracts with the US Government (US Aid and US Army Corps Engineers) between  1989 and 1995 of infrastructure projects and projects for the Egyptian Air Force. This positioned Contrack International to successfully expand in Qatar and Bahrain. 

Through relationships Eng. Bishai has nurtured with strategic technological partners, including UHDE, Foster Wheeler, Vinci, Belfinger Berger and Eiffage/EDF the OCI Construction Group has developed its specialism for the construction and engineering of industrial facilities, particularly in Egypt. 

Between 1998 and 2003 Mr. Bishai successfully introduced OCI in the Oil and Gas Construction Field which resulted in Orascom being one of the main contractors in the construction of the first LNG facility in Egypt through strategic alliances with partners such as KBR, Bouygues, Technigas, ... etc. and was able to repeat such success also in Algeria. 

He took a key role in the establishment of strategic construction-related subsidiaries for OCI, including OCI Algeria, OCI Nigeria, National Steel Fabrication and National Pipe Company. 

Between 2009 and now he has established the Construction Group business in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and secured several contracts with a value of $ One Billion. 

He also lead the development of OCI in Fertilizers investment in EBIC (Egypt) and (Algeria) with a total investment of more than 2.5 Billion US Dollars. 

Currently he is overlooking the Construction Group in the Middle East. 
Over his presence in the region, he has established very strong contracts that are key to the success of the Construction Group operation. 

He spearheaded the team that successfully concluded the award of the first PPP Project in Egypt. Eng. Bishai is also overlooking the expansion of the Construction Group in the US market.
